CDP Leader Cautions Political Parties

The Chairman and Leader of the Citizen’s Democratic Party (CDP) Joshua Albert Carew has cautioned some political parties against intimidation of opponents, ahead of the 2012 general elections.
He said the current spate of political intolerance is a recipe for chaos among political parties which may likely cause an unrest and rift among voters during the 2012 elections.
Mr. Carew stated that some political parties are in the habit of inciting people through the media by using provocative words against each other, rather than discussing national issues.
He said most political parties are in the habit of misinforming the public, thus creating tension among party stalwarts. He admonished political parties to desist from making inflammatory statements through the media that will create problems for the people.
The CDP Party leader called on political parties to respect the democratic right of others with the view of upholding the tenets of democratic principles. He cautioned political parties against fermenting trouble with other parties in a bid to ensure free fair and transparent election in 2012.
He also cautioned against the use of political violence to intimidate other parties or scare them away which the CDP leader said will derail the electoral process.
On the Biometric Voter Registration he said, the CDP welcomed the initiative and called on the public to register to vote. He also stated that, the biometric voter registration is the most effective and reliable process of electioneering which ensures transparency of the process.
The CDP leader said the party is currently helping in sensitizing the public about the voter registration process and citizen’s civic right. Additionally he said the party will commence a nation wide sensitization.
