Koroma has appealed to World Vision International Sierra Leone office for support in the provision of Health Care Delivery for lactating mothers, pregnant women and under five children so as to sustain the Government's free Health care initiative. The Ag Commissioner of the Anti Corruption Commission, Morlai Buya-Kamara has confirmed to Awoko that two men and one woman have been nabbed in Kambia for allegedly stealing drugs meant for the partial free health care. He said the three had been brought to Freetown and are being held in custody. Buya-Kamara said two cartoons of Paracetamol syrup, linked with the three people, were now in the possession of the commission and the suspects would be prosecuted in the coming weeks. The Director of Medical Stores is expected to certify the seized drugs today. Once the three are charged it would make true a promise by the ACC that anyone caught even with one Paracetamol stolen from the health care initiative would be prosecuted. The Deputy Protected Area Manager of the Gola Forest Programme who is also incharge of operations Alusine Santigie Fofanah has disclosed that the major threat now on the Gola forest program is hunting. He made this disclosure during their usual monthly planning meeting with forest guards held at the Gola forest main office at 164 Dama road in Kenema city. Alusine Fofanah says hunting which includes snaring (setting of traps), dogs and the use of fire arms (gun) are still going on within the Gola forest. He says despite the effort of the forest guards in patrolling the length and breadth of the gola forest yet still there are hunters within the Gola forest communities going on with their illegal activities. An unspecified number of bike Riders estimated to be in their dozens reportedly avoiding the wrath of the traffic operatives in the Western Area particularly in Freetown are busy flooding the streets of Bo and other major towns in the Provinces following their subsequent escape from their normal places of running, - a situation most say does not only pose traffic problems but has continued to raise growing concerns. The United Nations Children Funds (UNICEF) has donated four giga bytes recorders, CDrom and batteries to the management of Eastern radio FM 101.9 to enhance the broadcasting of children's programme on the radio. Formally presenting the items to the station manager Ahmed G. Kallon at Eastern radio conference room in Kenema city the UNICEF Communication officer Issa Davies says the donation was in fulfillment of the promise made by UNICEF in order to support them in the implementation of children's programmes at the station. He said Eastern radio has been successful in broadcasting children's programme in the region through which he says children are given the opportunity to make their voices heard on the radio. The National Electoral Commission NEC has on Friday 3rd September 2010 ended the second session and certification ceremony for the second batch of students who have undergone training under the Institute of Electoral Administration and Civic Education Program ( INECE-SL) at the Eastern Polytechnic college along Combema road in Kenema city. The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) on Thursday, 2nd September 2010 ended a two-day consultative workshop on the organization’s operating plan referred to as the YMCA-Sierra Leone Operating Plan (SLOP). The consultation brought together representatives from 25 local branches countrywide to review and adopt a draft report of the branch assessment, diagnosis and public perception survey of the local YMCA branches in the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western regions of Sierra Leone. The essence of the two-day workshop was to share draft copies and consult with executive and members on the findings of the SLOP report, arrive at a consensus on the draft report and to come up with a Road Map on developing the branches to sustain the YMCA.
