GTZ/FSR in inland valley swamp training workshop

The German Technical Cooperation and Food Security Reconciliation and Consolidation of Peace (GTZ/FSR) in the border chiefdoms of Kailahun and Kono districts has held a training workshop on Inland Valley Swamp development in Kono district for 39 participants.
The participants included 28 farmers, 14 of which were female, five extension agents and 20 community workers all from Bawadu in Toli chiefdom, Yamadu and Yengema in Lei chiefdom, Kongowoh and Foindu Mongor in Soa chiefdom, Dunamoh in Gbane Kandor chiefdom and Huwelleh in Mafindor chiefdom.
The training took place at Foindu Mongor in Soa chiefdom.
Addressing participants the Agricultural Advisor of GTZ/FSR, Joseph Mannah, called on them to apply the new knowledge they would be receiving to farmers in their communities.
The consultant and his assistant Anex Saffa and Edward Abdul Borbor Juana gave them theories on swamp development.
Participants were thought how to do proper survey of land and decide where to place main drain and peripheral carnal interior and bunds, inlet and outlet verves and sluice gate.
At the end of the workshop, a participant Finda Comber of Dunamoh in Gbane Kandor chiefdom thanked GTZ/FSR for its assistance to them.
A similar workshop was organized in Kailahun district for 80 participants.
