GTZ on conflict-sensitive development

The German Technical Corporation / Food Security and Reconciliation GTZ/FSR has ended a six-week training workshop on Conflict Sensitive Local Development Planning in all the organisation’s operational areas in Kono and Kailahun districts. 
The workshop which was held in Penguia chiefdom, Kailahun district targeted seven wards in Kono district and seventeen wards in Kailahun district. There were 316 participants including four from GTZ/FSR side partners in Guinea and Liberia.
In an interview with Awoko, the team leader and the Peace and Reconciliation
Advisor for GTZ/FSR in Kenema, Philip Macarthy said the training was the final round of training on the basics of the decentralization process, supported by his organization in corporation with other Development agencies and district Security Committee (DiSec).
The GTZ Regional Peace Advisor, Christine Rosenbrock said their support for the training at the ward level was based on and guided by an overall objective to rid poor and war affected groups in selected areas of the two districts. It was also geared towards capacitating the areas to embark on development projects by themselves in a responsible way.
