Amnet adds voice on election violence

A local non governmental organization, Advocacy Movement Network (AMNET), has added its voice in preaching against election violence.
Speaking to the press yesterday at their Freetown office the chief executive officer, Hawa Samai, reminded Sierra Leoneans of the major crisis they went through and should not make the mistake of witnessing it again.
She told of an intersectional approach that would involve all political parties, forces, the national electoral commission, civil societies, the youth and sports  ministry, local and international non governmental organization, the media and youth groups.
Hawa Samai further said, “the rights of the people should be claimed through education, food, just democratic government, education and freedom”.Jerome Chacornac, a Frenchman, spoke of political tolerance and peaceful exchange of different political opinions.
He called for a peaceful conduct of the forthcoming elections as “elections reflect political unity… but if the outcome of an election result is not respected there might not be unity”.
Amnet is a charitable non governmental organization created to bring positive changes through advocacy, capacity building, empowerment and gender parity. It main themes of activities are children’s rights, youth and women’s empowerment, HIV and drug abuse.
