Charges against Charles Margai, 10 others dropped

The case against Charles Margai and ten others were on Friday dropped together with that of former Revolutionary United Front (RUF)’s spokesman Omrie Golley.
According to the Attorney General, Abdul Serry-Kamal who signed a ‘nolle prosequi’ order, all 11 accused persons did not have any case to answer as there was no evidence to substantiate a case against them.
Charles Margai, Arrow John Bockarie, Aggrey Aruna, Mamie Bockarie, Rachael Lagao, Junior Bongay, Sidikie Janneh and Mohamed Steven and two others were arrested in Bo in November 2005 on an eleven count charges including unlawful assembly, threatening remarks and public insult on the then Vice President Solomon Berewa during the Speech Day and Thanksgiving ceremony of the Christ the King College.
The matter was arraigned before Magistrate Deen-Tarawallie in Bo, but due to security reasons the matter was transferred to Freetown before Magistrate Bankole Shyllon of Court No 3.
