New ACC Boss Abdul Tejan Cole

New Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) boss, Abdul O.B Tejan Cole, has told parliament that he does not believe in political witch-hunting.
Presenting the nominee to parliament yesterday, Chief whip Hon Ibrahim Bundu said the new ACC boss was interviewed on Monday where he told them that he did not believe in witch-hunting, and would pursue matters without fear or favour.
He said Mr Cole believed his commission would be used as an instrument which must be accountable to the people and nobody would stop him on a matter when he had evidence to nail the culprit.
“Where there is a matter before the commission to prosecute, nobody will stop me from taking necessary action,” he noted.
With his human rights background, he promised to protect the human rights of people under the commission’s investigation and that he had plans to set up a public information section that would counter the wrong perception that “any one under the commission’s investigation is guilty”.
He also stated that he had plans to amend grey areas in the ACC Act, more so detaching the prosecution of cases from the Attorney General’s office.
Hon Bundu informed MPs that the new ACC boss had decided to leave his well paid job as acting director of a South African International Centre for Transitional Justice to further serve his country.
He has held positions as barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Sierra Leone from 1991-2006, adviser and administration of justice component 2005-2006, manager justice sector development programme 1999-2006, lecturer department of law FBC, 2001-2006 and lecturer Sierra Leone Law School June 2004-date, national coordinator Sierra Leone for the abolition of the death penalty in commonwealth Africa 2003-2004  affiliate consul, trial affiliate office of the prosecutor, special court for Sierra Leone 1998-1999 human rights assistant at the United Nations Observer Mission (UNIOSIL).
Acting Speaker of Parliament Hon Cecil Osho Williams reminded Mr Cole of the President’s concern in fighting corruption and informed him that there were lots of people in possession of public funds. 
He urged him to follow the foot steps of his father lawyer, Abdul Tejan Cole snr.
