Sierra Leone News: Miss Sierra Leone Ltd unveils 2016 pageantry

mivv2014 Miss Sierra Leone contest was epic, however, as fate could have it, the beauty queen had to carry the crown for yet another year due to the ebola outbreak which halted nationwide socio-economic activities.
Now that the outbreak has dwindled, the organizers of the Miss Sierra Leone contest have resurfaced again, this time promising a 2016 never to be forgotten pageantry, where Miss Sierra Leone 2014 should handover the crown – which is a year overdue to another beauty queen.
On Wednesday, Miss Sierra Leone Limited officially launched the Miss Sierra Leone 2016 at Radisson Blu Hotel.
Miss Sierra Leone 2014, Margret Murray urges all to attend the 2016 pageant; “it’s going to be an explosion. The 2014 pageant is nothing compared to this one coming,” Salone beauty queen assured.
In her presentation, Miss Sierra Leone Limited Board Member, Amy Dumbuya, explained “our primary objectives are to organize national competitions, select a beauty queen for the country in a transparent and respectable manner; as well as to ensure that the country is well represented at international gatherings.”
“We currently hold the franchise for Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss ECOWAS and Miss West Africa,” Amy revealed.
Giving a background to the pageantry, she explained, “the first pageantry was held in 2002 but unfortunately the queen died of fire injuries, because of that we had to stop and we didn’t hold another pageant till 2014.”
She pointed out that “at the 2014 pageant we had auditions in Freetown”, noting that 10 contestants were selected from he different districts.
“We had camping; we were able to do inspirational talks,” she explained.
“The first pageant was held at the Bintumani Complex Centre where the first prize was a brand new car, Le10 million and a monthly stipend,” Amy averred.
Speaking about activities the beauty queen was engaged in as part of her beauty ambassadorship, Ms. Dumbuya said “Sierra Leone’s beauty queen was at “the Commonwealth Headquarters in March 2015” where she presented a gift to the commanding officer in the British intelligence security Centre.
Amy Dumbuya said that the beauty queen was also a special guest at Miss Sierra Leone- UK; Miss West Africa International in Nigeria, and the Catholic Young adult fellowship.
She stated that the 2014 beauty queen was very involved and active during the ebola period. Amie Dumbuya called on companies to sponsor the event as she explained about the different packages they have, noting that the event would serve as a branding platform for companies.
