Sierra Leone Sports: Cycling Association disagrees with NOC’s selection

Unisa Deen Kargbo

The Sierra Leone National Cycling Association (SLNCA) has complained the Chef de Mission, Unisa Deen Kargbo, over the selection of athletes to the Commonwealth Games in Australia next year April.
In a letter written by the Technical Director of the Association, Percy A. Nicol, to the President of the National Olympic Committee, Dr. Patrick Coker, the Cycling group condemns the choice of athletes.
RE: COMPLAINT AGAINST THE CHEF DE MISSION OF SIERRA LEONE ON THE SIERRA LEONE NATIONAL CYCLING ASSOCIATION TEAM’S SELECTION FOR THE 2018 COMMONWEALTH GAMES.
I write to notify you that the decision of the above referenced person in respect of choosing cyclists for the 2018 Commonwealth Games is not with our consent or our team’s selections procedure. That particular team (showed by Chef De Mission to me on Tuesday 15th November 2017) does not have the potential to create positive impacts for our Association and Sierra Leone by extension.
Having due consideration on the performance of the present cyclists, I am not satisfied with the said selection. Therefore, I am recommending that we use the present team’s assessment list or conduct a time-trial for the selection of cyclists for this said game. I wish to accompany a team that will create positive impacts to our Association or Sierra Leone. We are disassociating ourselves from any team that is not in accordance with our procedure. Thanks in advance while we anticipate your positive and swift intervention.
