Sierra Leone Entertainment: ACTORS GUILD calls on actors to register

There has been a rise and fall in Sierra Leone’s movie industry. Over the years the weak structural framework of the industry could not stand the test of time and subsequently collapsed. Consequently, the absence of the feeble framework causes things to fall apart. However without structure; movie stakeholders continue to operate in isolation, and the actors and actresses who are the face of the industry suffered the brunt of the divide. Notwithstanding, Sierra Leone actors came together and decided to form the Actors Guild which seeks not only to safe guard the interests of Actors and Actresses but also to capacitate them through trainings and exchange programmes. The current Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Actors Guild Harold Bob-Grey aka Babby Grey explained that registration is ongoing and registration is only Le. 100,000 within a grace period that ends in May. He explained that it is imperative as actors to register because in the future actors who are not registered members of the guild would not be able to act. He said that the advantages are if being a member of the Guild are enormous which ranges from training to contract with foreign producers and travel opportunities.
