Ebenezer Adjai, Tando Yani and two others are currently before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 at Pademba Road, for allegedly trafficking people to Europe. The accused were charged with Trafficking and Conspiracy. On Thursday 16 May 2019, the four accused appeared in Court. Police Sergeant Felicia Sofian of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit at Rogbagba recognized the accused in the dock. She said on 3rd March 2019, a transferred case and an enquiry file from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) in Lungi was sent to them for further investigations and handed over to ASP Patrick Sesay. The witness added that on 8 March 2019, ASP Sesay led a team of investigators to Hotel 5/10 in the east of Freetown. A search was conducted of the room of the fourth accused, Ebenezer Adjai, and three of the accused were arrested and brought to the station for further questioning. She said on the 16 April 2019, she obtained statements from the accused and charged them with trafficking and conspiracy. Magistrate Bonnie granted them Le50 million bail each. They were represented by C.A. Bangura. The case was adjourned to 17 May 2019.
